Summer Camp this year has really started off with a bang! With more campers than ever each week, this proves to be one of 688's greatest summers to date. Also Friday June 27th 688 will premiere D.O.P.E. This film is a look at four legendary world champion skateboarders; Jay Adams from Dogtown's Z Boys, Christian Hosoi, Dennis Martinez (world champion), Bruce Logan (world skateboarding champion owner of Logan Earth Skis number one skateboarding manufacturing company in 1980s) and it examines their rise to the top and their eventual descent into the drug and crime culture. Come check it out, regular session prices apply for those skating. Starting July 6th every Sunday night will be hosting Summer Youth nights in conjunction with Golgotha Skatepark, and the sessions for thattime will be buy one get one free so bring a friend! 688 will be having a one day skate camp on memorial day Monday, May 26th, our hours on Memorial day will be Session 1 10:00 am - 4:45 pm and Session 2 5:15 pm - 10:00 pm.

Our All nighters Friday the 30th and Saturday the 31st will only be $10 (regularly $15), and will include a game of SKATE on Friday, and a BMX best trick on Saturday sponsered by Monster energy!

Also June 3rd is the LAST day of school here in Pinellas County, and June 4th will begin our Summer Hours.

Monday-Thursday 10 - 4:45 & 5:15 - 10
Friday-Sat. 10-2:45, 3:15-6:45, 7:15-12
Sunday- 10-11:45, 12-4:45, 5:15-10

We here at 688 Skatepark will not be having our All night skate and Bike nights weekly anymore, instaed we will be having them on the last Friday and Saturday of each month. The tenative all night schedule will be as follows.
Friday, 04/25 - Skateboarding and Inline
Saturday, 04/26 - BMX
Friday, 05/30 - Skateboarding and Inline
Saturday, 05/31 - BMX
Friday, 06/27 - Skateboarding and Inline
Saturday, 06/28 - BMX
and so on and so forth. Make sure and tell your friends and parents!

We here at 688 skatepark would like to thank Mayor Rick Baker for coming out last Friday. The event was even better than expected, and everyone had a great time.
Also 688 may be changing our hours during the week. We will keep you posted.

The Winter Throwdown Contest Series came to an exciting conclusion last Saturday, the points are being added up and the awards will be held here at 688 Skatepark on March 15th. Thanks to all the skaters who signed up and all the parents who came out and showed their support. Anthony Henderson definitely had his division on lock entering every event and placing either 1rst or 2nd in each one. My pick for the best trick of series go's to Alex Peay who back lipped the huge rail in the back of the park only seconds after his run was over. 688's own Marcus Jalaber killed it throughout the entire series, but missed the finals to go to 3rd Lair Skatepark in Minnesota and win the King of the Groms Competition. We here at 688 are very proud Marcus, definitely a super good skateboarder as well as one of the nicest kids ever. Marcus wasn't the only kid from Pinellas county there either! Due to circumstances which were out of our hands the Indian Rocks Beach Winter Throwdown Stop has been moved. We will be holding the contest here at 688 Skatepark.
The last stop at Fossil was a huge success with the most competitors of the series, and definitely some of the best skating. Marcus Jalaber won the sponsored division with solid runs and a bag full of tricks in the jam session. Christian Carlos and Buddy Reed of Southern Boarder also raising the bar with some serious skating. Best trick of the day in my opinion though was probably Alex Peay's hardflip off the quarter deck. Look for the Results and pics on the Contest Results page very soon. Also, don't forget to keep track of your points in the series by checking out the points spreadsheet.

No school this Friday 01/18, or on Monday 01/21!! We will be open for regular sessions, as well as having our day skate camps on both days!!

The first stop of our Winter Throwdown Contest Series was yesterday at Lake Vista Skatepark. Everybody had a great time, and there was some serious skating going down. Check out the results here. 688's own Niko Mistakos killed the Jam session. Tray Thomas had perfect Kickflips down the double set all day, Tristan Smith a regular at 688 skate camps for the last couple of years is definitely proof positive that skate camp is the place to be if you want to place higher in competitions. He had two great runs including an inward heel over the gap. Also Cameron Miller was hippy jumping the flat bar into the bank which is difficult in itself but the fact that he's only about three feet tall definitely deserves mentioning. The whole contest almost went off without a hitch except for a slight mix up in the results of the 9 and under division by Rusty, who is really really sorry guys!! We look forward to our next stop at Ross Norton on the 29th!!

688 Skatepark would like to thank Golgotha Skatepark and The Reliance Skateboards Team for coming out to premier their Video Identity Theft and have a demo. Everyone who came had a great time, and those guys are welcome back here anytime.

Also we'll be having our annual New Years Eve all night skate and BMX. This years celebration will include a free contest (with admission) raffles, giveaways, and free pizza.

December 15th we will kick off the Winter Throwdown Contest series. First stop will be at Lake Vista followed by 5 other stops at skatepark's all over Pinellas county. Points will be awarded for placement in each contest, and whoever has the most points at the end of the series wins. Click the Flyer for more details.

We've been super busy here at the park. Burning Across America was awesome, thanks to everyone who attended, and congratulations to the winners! We've got tons of events happening in the coming months, King of Camp, a Halloween game of SKATE, the Winter Throw Down Series, and more. Starting October 26th the Friday Night All Night Skate will be just that Skateboards and Inline only, and We've given bikes their own night, Saturday from midnight til' 7am "BIKES ONLY" just $10.

Well Friday will end the last week of summer camp. We all had a lot of fun this summer! Thanks to Tommy and all of the camp skaters for making this years camp the best yet. The top three contestants from each week of camp are invited to participate in the "King of Camp" competition. A list of the skaters and the date of the contest will be announced next month.
